Double spec, poetry.
Interesting thoughts, Rob. I'll get it to everyone today or tomorrow. I will also create a blog to discuss.
It's classless. It's d2o based. Rolling a d20 is fun. No spell points. As of now, priests can cast anything in their ethos repetoire, mages anything they've learned in their book. I am open to fluidity for priests, but maybe as a supplemental rule as it could go awry with newer players. Maybe I need to take a close look at 3Ed.
One major difference has to do with armor. It absorbs damage, and actually can make you easier to be hit. (This was fun in our testing combats) Also, skill points per level grows very little and plateau's, which prevents a 10th level mage from becoming an instant fighter. -You need to plan ahead. I also think there is a reasonable, simple correlation between attributes and proficiency skills.
You'll see the differences.
Anyway, two things: first of all, if you don't like or understand something, ask me for my rationale first, then let's discuss. Secondly, yes, I would like to remake skeletons. I want this to be stand alone, and by these new rules, D&D monsters won't work. Also, I think you can build a better skeleton, Rob.
In fact, Rob, I'd like if you took charge of a major monster type or two. i.e. dragons, demons, undead, etc... You've got kick ass creativity when it comes to monsters, and I think the flavor of the game can be as important as the system itself. (We sure didn't play shadowrun for the system.) -Still, that's not to say that one can substitute for the other.
