I'm not calling you a liar, I just think you may have "mis-remembered" your thoughts due to the obvious concern and stress you felt. Perhaps there was an emergency at the school and what did you do? It seems you took a picture. You should have gone inside and offered assistance to the officer, who it would seem was involved in something. Perhaps the officer was handicapped, did you think of that? Perhaps so handicapped that they need two spots. Did you offer help? No, you took a picture. It is nice that you acknowledge that the officer in question could have been male or female, at least you are not so bigoted to assume that the officer was male. This is what's wrong with America, we criticize those who serve. So many available spots, and you don't think what can I do to help, you think how is this help wrong. You make me sick.

I hope things are well with you. I own a scooter now. It's awesome. A scooter, a house, it's the big time I tell ya. I was running an errand last Friday at lunch and I saw this cop car sitting in this school's parking lot. I thought to myself:

"That's interesting, I hope nothing bad happened. That police officer must have been in a hurry to park crooked like that"

Forty minutes later, on my way back from the errand, I saw that the car was there and had to double back and take this picture. This parking job wasn't for a lack of space. There were AT LEAST 35 spots in the lot... but none were at the front door like this one.

I am torn. I want to think that there was some kind of emergency, and this heroic police officer was the first responder. And I'd like to believe that his/her car is still taking up TWO handicapped spaces because he/she is still inside providing some kind of life saving service to the school.

But I have a sinking feeling that dude was just lazy and didn't want to huff it more than 15 ft. to the entrance.

I'm still doing the univsersity thing, though I'm now a philosophy major looking into law- I think Steve (KTs player) is a lawyer, right?

I look back with envy on all the free time we had to fuck around, game, and basically do whatever we want with little worry about the future. Almost zero responsibility. That's the main difference now. But I do have to say in other ways, life is definitely better now that I'm 30. Maybe it's because I'm in science, or maybe it's the reason I've stayed in science, but I've met a lot of interesting people. My own faith is that everyone is interesting, given enough time to get to know them, and that the most interesting people are the ones who initially seem the most boring. Certainly the converse I've found to be true too, which is related to why chicks love musicians but ultimately that leads to an awful relationship, which is why I advise all my female friends to stop dating rocker dudes even though they can't seem to help themselves.

I guess it's been awhile.

I am working as a tax accountant in chicago still. it's about -6 degrees and honestly, every day i want to leave and move to florida. the florida bar is still in process, as is my cpa exam.

Good god. I think 'gaming' actually describes some very different things. Perhaps 90% or so is about the 'Utterdark' and its kind. Maybe 10% is about something else.

Or, as gaming is a somewhat creative endeavor, maybe it just reflects what we already know about the population at large. The 90% thing is why I don't even bother to look for a gaming group. I might tell someone I game, but I don't think it normally conveys to that person what I am talking about. -It's has to do with the difference between the Matrix and Blade Runner. Subtle at times, but real. My biggest problem with the gaming world is that it seems to have whole-heartedly embraced the Utterdark.

Not to say that Utterdark isn't utterly fantastic...

Eh, I read the book (Golden Compass) but didn't get into it. Haven't seen the movie. Reading the book felt like listening to an old British man reading out loud a very important story that he'd writing for a long time because he thought that Narnia was okay but wasn't quite right, ducks.

It was boring.

Still, I like the resurgence of fantasy movies. Unfortunately, that means there's a lot of crap, and there'll be a reaction against it in the next decade. Kinda like the battle between reality TV and good TV. There is some damn good TV comin round though.

Watched Season 1 of Battlestar Galactica, got into it, then suddenly stopped watching. Haven't gotten back into it. Instead, I'm watching all the X-files. Great stuff.

We saw The Golden Compass on Saturday. It wasn't good. Maybe if we'd read the book it might make some sense. To us, it was just a poorly explained magical fantasy tour. Look, a talking bear! Look, a cowboy! Look, a witch! Look, Pirates! Look, a neat blimp! -That was it.

No Country for Old Men is dirty good.

Still working on the system. Ed, Matt and I have been doing some testing and editing. I'm working on making it presentable now. I've gained much respect for Gygax in this process. I still have no name.

Reading up on the 4E D&D spoilers, it sounds awful. Two examples: 1) There is a race called dragonborn. 2) Half elves get a bonus to their diplomacy checks.

Science has been difficult. But that's what it's about. I'm in grind mode.

I read Clockwork Orange. -It's fantastic. The nadsat language is a bit difficult at first, but before long it gets almost poetic.

I'm halfway through Don Quixote. It's alright. Funny premise, but it's pedantic and kind of like a 17th century Dumb and Dumber. -At one point Don Quixote ralphs in Sancho's face, causing Sancho to counter-ralph. Sancho also gets diarrhea on his mule. Lot's of that stuff with a wandering plot.

Starting up a new campaign here. No, not HERE here, on the blog. Here in the part of the real world in which I live. Thankfully, I'm not running it- Jon is, and it's D&D but set in the year 4000. I don't normally discuss this with others, but I tend to see different people in the world in terms of 'chakras', a Hindu concept. In this view, basically there's a hierarchy of desire and motivation, starting in your groin and moving up to right above your head. I think of people as being driven by one principle chakra. There are like seven or eight, but most people around here are driven by stomach, heart, and brain. The need to feed, love, fuck, think, and/or buy things.
